Cookie policy
Last updated
Short policy. jesternet.dev sets one cookie and stores one localStorage item. No analytics, no advertising, no third-party trackers, no consent banner — because there's nothing to consent to beyond the essentials.
Strictly necessary
jesternet_session
Server-issued opaque session token. Set when you sign in. Required to keep you signed in across requests. HttpOnly, Secure, SameSite=Lax.
Lifetime: 30 days from last activity. Cleared when you sign out or when you close the session at /settings/.
This is a "strictly necessary" cookie under UK PECR — no consent is required, and the site cannot function without it for signed-in users.
Functional (localStorage)
jn-theme
Your preferred theme — "dark" or "light".
Set when you click the theme toggle in the header. Read before paint to avoid
a flash of incorrect theme.
Stored in browser localStorage, not as a cookie. Never sent to the server. Clearing site data in your browser resets it.
What we do not set
- No analytics cookies (no Google Analytics, no Plausible, nothing)
- No advertising or remarketing cookies
- No third-party social media trackers
- No fingerprinting
The Cloudflare edge that fronts jesternet.dev sets infrastructure-level cookies
(__cf_bm for bot management, cf_clearance
if you complete a challenge) on a tiny minority of requests. These are operated
by Cloudflare on a legitimate-interest basis to protect the service from
automated abuse; see Cloudflare's cookie policy for details.
