Terms of service
Last updated
Scope
These terms apply to the jesternet instance at jesternet.dev, operated by Quantum Encoding Ltd (company number 16575953, registered office 33 Oxford Street, Coalville, LE67 3GS, United Kingdom).
The jesternet software itself is open source — if you self-host your own copy, your instance is governed by whatever licence ships in the source, not by this document.
Accounts & access
jesternet.dev is access-gated. Accounts are created by the operator on an
invitation basis — there is no public sign-up. Granting access is an administrative
action (INSERT into the users table), not
a side effect of successfully completing OAuth. If you can sign in, you are
authorised; if you cannot, you are not.
You are responsible for keeping the credentials (OAuth account, personal access tokens) under your control. Compromise of those credentials may compromise the repositories accessible from them. Revoke tokens immediately at /settings/tokens if a token is exposed.
What you can do
- Push, clone, and browse repositories you have been granted access to
- Issue and manage repo-scoped personal access tokens
- Use the service via any standard git client, command-line, or CI runner
What you can't do
- Push content that is unlawful in the UK or the US, or that infringes third-party copyright
- Use the service to attack other systems (the service is monitored; abuse traffic is throttled or blocked at the edge)
- Attempt to bypass authentication, rate limits, or audit logging
- Share an access token with a party who hasn't been granted independent access
No warranty
The service is provided as is with no warranty of fitness for any particular purpose. We aim for high uptime and durability (Cloudflare R2 + D1 are the storage substrate) but make no guarantees. You should mirror critical repositories to a second location if losing access would harm you.
Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by UK law, Quantum Encoding Ltd's total liability arising from the operation of jesternet.dev is capped at the amount you paid for the service in the 12 months preceding the claim. If you have not paid, that amount is zero.
Nothing in these terms excludes liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, fraudulent misrepresentation, or any other liability that cannot be excluded under UK law.
Termination
You can stop using the service at any time. We can terminate or suspend access if the terms above are breached, or if continued operation of your account materially harms the integrity of the service for other users.
On termination by either side, your git data remains exportable via any git client for 30 days, then is deleted along with your account record.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any dispute that cannot be resolved by direct contact will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
